If you want to celebrate a small business on this Small Business Saturday, look no further than WAT/Women's Adventure Travels. We have partnered with another women-driven small business, a nonprofit, Girls on the Run International, Lancaster.

In the spirit of Women's History Month in March and in line with WAT does best, creating trips so guests can see a destination through a feminine lens. We could not have picked a more perfect place than the Salamander Resort & Spa in Virginia's wine country in Middleburg, Virginia.

Sheila Johnson heads Salamander Resorts. She also made history as the co-founder of BET, Black Entertainment Television, and America's first Black female billionaire, ahead of Oprah.

Popped in The Candy Factory, (TCF) my coworking space this am for the monthly member breakfast.

I haven't been around for a month. It's always great to pop in &see everyone. I, especially love the TCF team. Brooke took the picture and Francis is with me.

Any time outside by the sea is a good tune for me. I loved noodle around on property at Ocean Casine Resort in Atlantic City.

There is so much outside space, from beachfront decks with Adirondack chairs to rocking chairs and benches.

They also have a private beach, but it was a bit too windy.

So, I wandered around theur “Park” then finally settled poilside.

I llove the beach. ❤️

Roman Wadsworth and I had a great time at Ocean Casino Resort We especially loved one of their high end restaurant, Lunguini by the Sea.

The food was phenomenal, the setting was stunning and the service at the seafood forward Italian restaurant was excellent. We had a ball!

I highly recommend it! This is a destination restaurant for sure.

The owners Megan ( pictured here) & Justin are awesome. Megan is such a great coach as is Jo. I love it. I whinge & moan to myself every morning at 4:00 am, but I manage to make my way there Monday to Friday for the 5:00 am class.

It’s HIIT. So, it’s a bounce between the treadmill & the weights.

I love it & the community, especially the 5:00 & 6:15 ( the class I take if 5:00 is full) group. They ate a committed crew.

If anyone is interested or has any ?’s, hit me up.

Last week in Bar Harbor Maine. Last weekend in Quebec City and today in New York City.

I’m loving the various landscapes, people and places. It feels so good to be back out and about in a big way.

One thing I love about travel is that you leave a lot of the busyness of life behind as do those around you.

We all step out of our comfort zones to explore more of the world and ourselves. That's where the magic happens.

There was a lot of magic with these ladies.

The hardest part of the trip can be when it ends. Yet, I know I will see these lovely ladies and friends again.

Every day while I was in Turks I got up really early and hit the pool and the beach and bounced between the two.

I had both to myself without a single soul in sight, which was heaven.

An evening ritual on the women’s trip was to chase the sun. The sunsets in Turks are an event. Everyone stops what they are I doing to capture it or witness it.

I love the stunning mother daughter shot of Suzanne and Madeleine and Bridget’s outfit was so beach chic and matched the sunset and get Aperol Soritzer.

A beach BBQ dinner followed with dining in the sand. It doesn't get any better.

Dinner at Grace Bay was off the charts. Sunset drinks, sushi, and an abundance of steak, lobster, seafood, veggies, potato’s. It was unreal. The chef is Nepalese, raised in India but has been at Grace Bay for seven years.

Amazing meal, great conversation and incredible women. My heart and my belly were full.

As the heart weighs heavy today, I think of the Irish and all that they have endured. May their indomitable spirit, wit, wisdom, and whimsy be with us all today and every day.
I can't think of a better sentiment today than the Irish Blessing. Whatever one's belief may be, I find this soothing to the soul.

We can *bearly*😉 believe how long it has been since we last posted on Instagram! The last few months have been crazy busy here at WAT and we cannot wait for you all to see what we have coming your way - including a few fabulous new adventures, some surprises for International Womens Day, and several exciting projects.

All of the craziness aside, we could not miss the opportunity to celebrate #InternationalPolarBearDay! This shot was captured by our Adventuress in Chief, @lakarenloftus, on a recent trip to Canada where she was lucky enough to see some of these beautiful bears in their natural habitat.

With the cold upon us back east, I can't help but have winter weather adventures on my mind. As hard as it is to navigate whipping winds at home, I somehow love it on a trip. I cheerfully welcome the cold and the winter weather adventures on hand. ...

If you are wanting to plan some winter weather adventures, hop on WAT's site. We are headed to Antarctica early in 2021. You have plenty of time to put your pennies away for this one. It is well worth it. Believe me!!!...

I was pouring over videos and pix last weekend from a previous Antarctic trip. It gave me all the feels and made me all the more excited to get back at it...

Additionally, we will be headed where this pic was taken. I was recently back in Churchill, Canada in the Canadian arctic (pictured here) to check out the polar bears up there. We saw at least a dozen or so a day. It was amazing! ...

We are likely heading back that way with WAT in 2021 as well. We will be staying way off the grid in the tundra buggy hotel (scroll through the our here to see) which is pure magic! ...

Last, we are also headed to Norway. That trip is not on the site yet. It is fast approaching in June of 2020. So, stay tuned. We are rolling out a number of new trips including plenty of glamping adventures in the national parks as well in the coming weeks...

When I was trekking in Peru, I was on my own with a guide only. We didn't see a single soul, except locals the whole day. We saw a woman herding llamas and a family building a house, kids pulling food from their garden and of course plenty of wild horses and animals. Outside of that, I didn't see any other people in my nine-hour trek, except these two.

As the day started, I was hoping I had it in me to last a full nine hours of serious high altitude trekking. Fifteen minutes in, I was distracted from my nerves as I met these two women from The UK. We looked like we color-coordinated our purple-driven outfits. We stopped for a few pix and a couple of giggles, then we wished each other well.
It was one of many magic moments in that blissful day in Peru's Lares Valley a few days before Macchu Picchu. Not only did I make the nine-hour trek, but I was also ready for more in the end as it was so enervating. I loved it and I love this picture as there is nothing better than sharing the trail, the trek and the journey wiht others.

We stayed at the Four Seasons by the Serengeti. The rest of our stays were at the uber-chic Singita properties in the Grumeti Reserve and in the surrounding areas.

When in Africa, the experience continues up until the very last minute. My final minutes in Tanzania were spent with this beautiful soul. We shared a spirited conversation, many a giggle and this gorgeous pic.

Anyhoo, I was on an ocean cruise with Viking this time last year, and St. Petersburg was city number three for us.
We got unlucky/lucky with the weather and wind, which added on an extra day to our spin into this stunner of a city.

Additionally, I was so taken by her and her larger than life story.

However, even Catherine needed downtime. In the background, you can see a mini version of the palace. It was Catherine's art cottage or she-shed, as it were. It's where she went to decompress, recalibrate, and get creative, by herself. 💃
We all need that, whether it's a mini palace or simply carving out the time or a wee window for ourselves, our creativity, and merely giving ourselves permission in the day and a place to play.

I can't promise you a palace or a tricked out she-shed, but if you travel with us at WAT, you can bet like-minded and GREAT women will surround you. It may be just the window and whirlwind you need to recalibrate and get back to being GREAT in your own world.
